1st October
Great performance by one of our U11 teams this morning who played Western Gaels in Moorefield in a league game. When these two teams meet, it’s always a good hurling fixture with both teams displaying skills like striking the ball on the run. Moorefield showed good attitude in their approach and team effort. Delighted to see the skills practiced at training being used well at the match. Our thanks to Western Gaels for facilitating us to bring the fixture forward a week. Next week all our U11 lads will have home games, details to follow during the week. Training tomorrow evening at 6.30pm.
24th September
On Sunday morning, we had an U11 team play away to Confey in which was a close game. Our lads gave Confey a head start before reeling them in. On Monday 25th September all our U11 players played so we managed two matches against St Laurence’s in Narraghmore. Both were close games and Moorefield’s stars of the future enjoyed themselves and gave it everything. Playing under lights did not affect young lads. Well done to everyone for playing their part and thank you to St Laurence’s for facilitating the change in date and time.
11th Septmeber
Moorefield U11 Green team played a good, close, skilful game against Ardclough in the club yesterday. Despite windy and showery conditions, both sides braved the elements and enjoyed a competitive game. Both U11 teams have rest next weekend and should have two games around Sun 24/9 and Monday 25/9. Details to be texted out later.
Will done to the U13 team that played Rathangan on Friday evening last. A slow start from our lads who when got going with a fine goal never looked back. The next U13 game is at home against Ardclough this coming Friday.
Moorefield got their autumn U11 hurling leagues off to a good start on Sunday and Monday. On Sunday, in Division 2 we played Celbridge in a closely fought game. Rustiness was evident but Moorefield started to get form as the game evolved. Well done to Ella who stood in at short notice and showed that camogie is strong and well.
On Monday we played Round Towers in Division 3. Played in wet conditions, goals were scored off the stick, off the ground and also both left and right feet (Robbie Brady would have been proud of them). Well done to Darragh H, Rory and Oisin who played part of the game with Towers. The league games will continue over the coming weeks and whole be completed by mid October.
